Temporary Summer Foster Homes Needed
Have you ever considered becoming a foster parent with MCRS? Well, now is the time! Many of our regular foster homes are taking much needed vacations this summer and are unable to foster. We are therefore in need of new foster homes to keep up with the number of rabbits needing a place in our foster care system. MCRS provides foster care to many rabbits with behavioral or medical issues that may prevent them from being successful in a shelter environment.
What does it take to foster a rabbit through MCRS? MCRS provides supplies, food and medical care for rabbits in foster care. Foster homes provide socialization, exercise and daily greens for rabbits. Fostering can be a very rewarding experience for both the bunny and the foster parent! If you're able to help a bunny in need or would like additional information, please contact us.

MCRS Receives $1000 Grant to Help Rabbits in Need
More than 60 rabbits were surrendered to Animal Humane Society in November 2009, overloading the shelter's small-animal program which was already housing over 40 rabbits waiting to find new homes. With the financial help of a grant from the Build-a-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation, Minnesota Companion Rabbit Society stepped in to help by providing hay and pellets to help feed the new arrivals and, beginning in December, by taking the rabbits into its network of foster homes to await adoption and receive medical care as needed. The Build-a-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation is committed to making life more bearable for children, families, and pets in need of a helping paw. With the sale of each full-sized Bearemy’s Kennel Pals friend – a collection of Build-a-Bear Workshop plush dogs – one dollar is donated to domestic pet programs, including local animal shelters, stray pet rescue and rehabilitation organizations, and pet education programs around the country. These funds are available to qualified non-profit organizations in the United States and Canada through a quarterly grant process. Visit www.buildabear.com for more information.
Become a Sustaining Member now
MCRS depends on regular donations to be able to offer our vast array of services to help homeless bunnies in this community. We are currently seeking Sustaining Members - a special program where you sign up to donate a monthly amount (as little as $9/month) which is then automatically transferred each subsequent month. We've set a goal of 100 Sustaining Members, and we are far below that goal. Sign up as a Sustaining Member now!
